Evolutionary Milestones
Porifera posses the eukaryotic milestone. Habitat Most live in the ocean but some live in freshwater. Anatomical/ Structural Features |
How do they acquire nutrients
Porifera filter feed to acquire nutrients. They filter small particle form the water What do they eat They eat tiny, floating organic particles and plankton. What eats them Some tropical fish and turtles eat them. They don't have many predators due to the fact that they have distasteful compounds in them. Symmetry Sponges are asymmetrical. Mobility Adults are sessile, meaning they do not move, and they have a hollow cylinder body. Larvae have the ability to swim with cilia. Reproduction Sponges reproduce asexually by fragmentation, budding, and regeneration. Development |
